If you are afraid of public speaking and if you have ever taken a day off just to miss your turn for the presentation then you are not alone. As a child, my greatest fears weren’t lizards or ghosts it was public speaking. Standing in front of even a small group of five people and speaking something was terrifying for me. Today I speak with confidence in fact I love public speaking now!!!
Here are my top four tips that I implemented in my life to overcome the fear of public speaking

The reason why this is first on the list is that this technique is the reason why I gained the confidence to speak. I have often noticed in me, that whenever I by-heart the script I get more nervous. The reason is because we try to memorize the entire script perfectly which is a difficult task!
I discovered this technique once when I was at school , I was called by my teacher to give a speech and I wasn’t aware that it was the public speaking test day!!!!
The speech carried marks which I didn't want to lose at the same time I wasn’t prepared. I was terrified, confused and just wanted to escape from the class but all eyes were on me waiting for me to come and speak, that’s when my friend sitting in the next row realized that I was frighted and told me in the quietest possible voice
speak whatever you know about the topic”
That gave a little hope to my frozen brain! I shook my head and walked slowly in front of the classroom and paused for some time to gather all the information I knew about the topic.
Miraculously for the first time in my life, I spoke the first 3 lines in front of my classmates. Then something magical happened! my heart that was beating like a drum started to calm down. I started enjoying the speech and  than on I never held myself back from any public speaking events.

STOP THE FLEEING HABIT
It doesn't matter whether or not the activity gives you marks or    certificates for participation, your goal should be to take part in as many public speaking events as possible, to do that you can start off by making a note of all the activities and events that are coming up in your college or at work then start preparing for it. The more you participate the more you gain confidence.

DO NOT OVERTHINK

It’s all in our minds! The way we visualize the situation in our minds that’s how it's going to turn out. what you need to do here is, sit for some time and think only good about the event or you can do this… imagine yourself as a celeb, tell yourself that you are a really successful person and people admire you, thinking like that can actually increase your confidence. Most situations in our life look scary because we think about it in a negative way, not just for public speaking you can apply this to any other situation in your life that you are afraid of.

THE AUDIENCE ARE NOT ANY EXPERTS AT SPEAKING!

Ask yourself why you are afraid of speaking in the public, is it because you think the audience will judge you? I know that feeling I too had that insecurity but let me tell you one thing the moment you start thinking that the audience are not any experts they are people just like you, you feel more relaxed, confident and proud because you are up there on the stage and the audience are sitting down relaxed and watching you which gives you reason to feel proud of yourself.
